Wedding fun

Hey Ya'all!
So you know how I said I was traveling last week, well my little family and I (along with my big family) traveled to Autin, Tx for my cousin's wedding. It was absolutely stunning. She got married outside and the reception was in this barn/event center that was the most gorgeous venue. There were chandeliers and burlap curtains between the columns. The venue had a wonderfully shabby chic feel that was everything a girl could want on her wedding day, if that girl is anything like me :).

The reception got a little loud for little man so we headed outside and found this lovely balcony with a wonderfully comfortable chair to spend the night on.

Most people say little man looks just like me, but here I think he looks just like his daddy!

These two make my world go round.

Its always nice to get away for a few days and travel, but at the sametime there is also a wonderful feeling to coming home after a long or short journey.

Thanks for stopping by! More pictures of the venue and wedding tomorrow. Ya'all come back now ya here!? Yes I had to. I was in Texas afterall. Your welcome.

September Monthly Favorites

Hey Guys!
Today I wanted to talk about the products I have been loving for September. So lets get right to the good stuffs.

First up on the list is this lorac pro palette. This is the original and I have had this guy for a few years and with my wandering eye, that I have mentioned before, I forget about him quite frequently. But, he always has me coming back and wondering why I ever deserted him!? Too dramatic for a tuesday? Never.

This palette is perfect for any look you want to create. ALL the shades are super pigmented and bleandable and it has a row of shimmers and a row of mattes that you can create any look with. I think he is definitely worth they buy and the try (see what I did there).

Next up we have my foundation of choice this month which is again this wonderful covergirl 3 in 1. This is like a dream it has great coverage (but not cakey) it lasts all day and it keeps me mattish looking which is my desired effect. I prefer to be mattish instead of totally matte looking but I'm sure with powder it could keep you fully matte as well. If your in the mood to try a new foundation I unabondonely (that's a word, I'm almost sure of it) give this one two thumbs way up.

Now on to everyone's my favorite part of favorites the lips! I have two shades of the same dog (dog is code for lipstick in south dakota, google it) for you this month. They are both liquid lipsticks of sorts and they last for stinking ever and are wonderful no fuss colors. The first one is a great any occassion lip it's called marvelous mauve and I wear it all the time!

This one is a deeper more fall looking lip color that I absolutely love it is called blackberry sorbet and it is a great dupe for dose of colors berry me. I love love love it and I bet you will too.

Marvelous Mauve and Blackberry Sorbet are right next to eachother fourth and fifth from the left on the top row. I also swatched the rest of the collection for you incase you wanted to see what other colors they have available in these matte liquid lipsticks.

Sorry I was so MIA last week we were traveling and blah blah blah I got busy and I suck. Forgive me?

What about now that I have posted this cute picture of my baby? yes. ok thanks friends. See you back here this same time tomorrow for another post! I promise.

Finally feeling human again!

The other night, I was reading an article about the resurgence of pencil skirts. I can't remember where I found it and I'm sure I could never find it again, (or im just to lazy to look, don't tell anyone) but I thought I'd relay the message to you. If ever you doubted them, pencil skirts are where it's at. That is according to me and some person, somewhere, who writes for some news publication.

I'm pretty sure I missed my calling as a news reporter, you guys.

Pinterest is taking over my life. I realized this today as I was looking at it on my phone while still in bed. 6: 30 am and I'm scrolling through Pinterest. That can not be normal, right? I mean Facebook fine, but Pinterest? Get a hold of yourself lady!

All of that to say that I've turned over a new leaf with my pins of interest (see what i did there, clever? no?). Before I was pinning outfits like I eat ice cream: fast, careless, and like I've been starved for days. Then I would look at what I'd pinned and be sad that I really didn't have the EXACT pieces that I needed to come up with pinned outfits. But I realized that was dumb, so my pins now are based on things I can replicate like color schemes or patterns. I might not have the pieces but I do have the color. For example, I copied this outfit from a pin I saw that I liked based on colors, it's not exact but it's exactly what I wanted to wear. Who knew? Pinterest. My long lost bff, that's who knew.

Really all of this is just me justifying looking at Pinterest, on my phone, in my bed as soon as my alarm wakes me.

Ode to pencil skirts

If pencil skirts ever go out I'm done for. It's the easiest outfit to look pulled together. Insert any top with a pencil skrit and instantly look more polished. No one would ever know that in my morning frenzy I had pulled every piece of clothing off ever hanger and thrown them in a pile the size of a small bean bag chair. A hot mess of a pile that will take me at least two weeks to clean up.
Now you see why it's a winning combo, yes?

Last OOTD for this week

I am a tiny bit behind schedule with this post and last week's styling series, I had one more post with this free people sweater I wanted to get up for you guys to really round out the week and keep my promise of a whole weeks worth of stying for one clothing item. I mean really if I can't complete the challenge that either means; I am too wild and free to be held to some rules I made up for myself or I am too flaky to commit to the task at hand. Either way, doesn't matter! because I have suprised us both by following through, your welcome!

Juxtaposition

This new styling game that I have challenged myself to has made me think outside my box and has introduced me to the wonders that are styling by juxtaposition. For instance, we have this wonderfully bohemian free people flowing sweater that I look at and think perfect for casual wear, well if you pair that new fella with my old friend the pencil skirt it gives this wonderful mullet effect (your eyes are not decieving you, I did mean to put wonderful and mullet in the same sentence together) Because you see we have buisness in the front or rather on the bottoms, in the case, and party in the back or the top. I love mixing things that don't originally appear to go together or be from the same styling family and creating new and different experiences reminds me of the original juxtaposition popcorn and m&ms, duh.

Rule Breaker

I have decided to start a new blogging game. Rules of the game are as follows: 1. I will pick one item of clothing a week and style it differently each day. 2. I will change more than just one thing about the ensemble (don't worry I'm not trying to pull a fast one on you by only switching up my pants, I know your too clever to fall for those shenanigans). 3. I will repeat this cycle until A. I get bored with it. B. you get bored with it and beg me (nicely) to stop. C. I forget about this game and go back to regular outfit posts! Deal? deal.

I have been craving neutrals lately. Black, white, tan, grey if it's slightly drab than cover me in it and send me on my way. The thing about neutrals though, is that they can be quite boring on their own but when you put them all together they can really make a look. Kind of like the old saying the sum is greater than the parts, too early for philosophy? Never, when discussing fashion I say.

Labor Day Style

If I were a good blogger I'd have an outfit up at 9 am on the dot. But really I'm just a blogger. But may I point out that my post is only 8.5 hours late -- not that bad, eh?
I have been on the lookout for an off the shoulder/ cut out sweater and alas I have found one! Ever since I found this little guy I have been cleverly working him into all conversations with my husband. It started off with a simple hey you know where I found this and reminiscing about my great find, and from there it has transitioned to discussing the make and fit as well as the brand, what I think of the brand, as well as the pros and the one con that I only picked up one of these. My husband is so thrilled with me about this that he immediately starts running in the other direction once I put this on. I can see his mind going uh oh here comes the crazy sweater lady, but what can I say I love a great find!
